Update from the Wild

We are excited to share the remarkable journey of transformation and growth at House in the Wild. From its origins as a modest mud hut on a bean farm to its role today in a thriving conservancy initiative, our story is one of hope, growth and progress.

As an integral member of the utterly unique Bush and Beyond portfolio, House in the Wild remains dedicated to the ethos of family-operated and owner-managed properties. It has been lovingly restored and renovated, with the addition in 2023 of the beautiful Kisaru Cottage and now in March we open our new Wild Boutique, our photo studio and our Wild Spa. The team have grown with us and each have their own remarkable story, many having gone from bean farming to hospitality in just under 10 years.

Our vision extends into a larger narrative of conservation and community engagement, illustrated through the establishment of The Wild Villas. Now in their successful second year, these private safari homes, built as part of the vision for the restoration of the Enonkishu Conservancy, provide a tailor made safari experience.

Each Villa is managed by our team, promising an extraordinary escape that resonates with our guests' desire for connection and inspiration. For guests looking for a little more privacy, The Wild Villa properties are like the very best safari lodge that you don’t have to share with anyone else. These beautiful, exclusive use homes enable guests to experience world-class game drives and first-class bush experiences - from bush breakfasts to sundowners - with a rare level of privacy.

Introducing Kipeleo

We are beyond excited to introduce Kipeleo, our landmark initiative named in honor of Kileleoni Hill by the Maasai elders. This dream, nurtured by the Wood family for over forty years, has now evolved into a breathtaking sanctuary, a vision brought to life with the Sievwright family, our partners who share a profound commitment to conservation and a bold future vision.

Kipeleo, a 40 minute drive from House in the Wild, is accessed through a secret door built into the edge of the Kileleoni Hill, and overlooks the vast plains below. On a remote and private hilltop, Kipeleo offers an intimate sanctuary with just 5 suites for up to 10 guests. It has been crafted to blend effortlessly into its surroundings; its design takes cues from the natural world, with walls that echo the textured skin of elephants and living grass roofs that meld into the landscape.

The creation of this extraordinary retreat has been achieved through the collaboration with the incredible architect Pollos Purdon and the exceptionally talented Sue Sievwright, who together have meticulously shaped every aspect of Kipeleo. Their collective design expertise and passion for conservation have been crucial in crafting what promises to be a pioneering and breathtaking destination.

This exclusive retreat is more than a luxury destination; it is a beacon of commitment to restoring wildlife habitats, enhancing community livelihoods, and delivering unparalleled guest experiences. We are creating some unique experiences for the property, including a Wellness spa, walking safaris and a photography hide, all designed to deepen the connection with nature. We are keenly awaiting the moment in July 2024 when its secret antique door within the hill will be opened, marking a new chapter in our journey of innovation and conservation.

In collaboration with Bush and Beyond, we are steadfast in our commitment to a seamless booking experience across all of our properties, so although The Wild Villas will not feature as part of the Bush and Beyond portfolio, we are grateful to continue working with their incredible team overseeing bookings and reservations for all of the Collection in the Wild properties, ensuring a cohesive and exceptional experience for every enquiry.

As we continue on this journey, we are grateful for your continued support and partnership, which inspires us to strive for excellence and innovation in everything we do.

Thank you for being a part of our story.
